Own a piece of the Olympus legacy

These bookends are hand crafted from premium grade mahogany and mounted with an original Olympus High brick salvaged at the time of demolition in 2012.  A solid brass plaque, acknowledging the origin of the brick and our Olympus High, Class of 1964 50th Reunion, is attached to each bookend.  You, your kids, or your grandkids would enjoy this practical yet decorative piece of Olympus history.

Many thanks to the following for producing the bookends at no cost to our reunion:

  • Gary Sandberg, chairman of Granite Mill, where the wood was crafted and finished
  • Harvey Cahoon who got the bricks cut and cleaned
  • Deon Tanner Hilger whose connection with the O.C. Tanner Company yielded the brass plaques
  • Don Wilhelmsen for photography and Photoshop work
  • Paul Bjornn and Ron Scott of the Class of '63 for the salvaged bricks

Where do the funds go?

Our reunion expenses are not entirely covered by the tickets you purchase for each event.  We are grateful for donations that have contributed to reducing the reunion costs, making it more affordable.  The bookend money will be likewise used.  When all the expenses are paid and event money collected, we truly hope we are NOT in the hole.  If we end up in the black, a few hundred dollars will be held in reserve for future website hosting.  The excess will be donated, in the name of the Class of '64, to a scholarship fund or similar cause to the benefit of Olympus High School or students there as a privileged gift from our class.  We will publish the amount at the conclusion of the reunion.
THANK YOU!
