Sandy UT United States Fritz (Fred) Burri Kunzi 12/23/1921 ~ May 4, 2012 Sandy, UT-Fritz (Fred) Burri Kunzi, 90, a man with a sweet nature and playful humor passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2012. Born December 23, 1921 in Wattenwil, Switzerland; Fred was the third of four children born to Fritz Kunzi & Louise Burri Kunzi. Fred was married to Mary Portner for 45 years and raised 5 sons. Although he loved his native country of Switzerland, he brought his family to America in 1953 to escape a depression and become a cowboy. Fred worked for the Hotel Utah, Ajax Press and Salt Lake County Public Works. Fred's second wife, Judy passed away within a year, and in 2000 he married Helen Marie Meyer. Fred enjoyed photography, poetry, gardening, birds and traveling; especially back to Switzerland and to Southern Utah. Fred won a Golden Poetry Award in 1989, Sandy City Beautification Award in 2002, and Photographer of Merit Award from the International Society of Photographers in 2004. Fred is survived by: his wife, Helen; children, Reinhard, Ralph, Peter, Roy; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Klara, Freida and Helena; first wife, Mary; second wife, Judy; and son Fred.
