Robyn Andrus Stowell  (1946 – 2009)

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2009 from breast cancer.  Robyn was born on October 15, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Hazen Kirk and Mary Whiting Andrus. She graduated from BYU with a degree in journalism in 1968. While at BYU she enjoyed many great adventures with her Angel Flight sisters.

Following her graduation from BYU, she worked in San Francisco and then in Boston. While in Boston she met her husband of 37 years, Brian J. Stowell. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 9, 1971. Following her marriage, Robyn spent most of the next 30 years in southern California, where she raised her family, taught elementary school, and made many life-long friends.

Among many other church callings, she served as Relief Society and Primary president. She also had the great adventure of living with her family in the Marshall Islands from 1988-1990. Robyn moved home to Utah in 2000, where she continued teaching at Magna Elementary and spent time playing with her grandchildren, working in her garden, and traveling the world.

Robyn is survived by her husband Brian; three daughters and a son: Regan, Kirk (Anne), Shannon, Hillary; three grandchildren; and a sister, Sherry (Dennis) White. The family wishes to express thanks to Dr. Patricia Legant for her care and compassion towards Robyn.

I am so sad th hear about Robyn.  She was such a great person.  We were co-chairs of the Junior Prom and she was so fun and enthusiastic and such a hard worker.  She was very kind to me and everyone else.

I went knocking on doors around Robyn's house in Holladay in 2006 to see if I could locate her.  She wrote to me during my entire mission, as a loyal and good friend.  I played backup guitar for her for some things she did at BYU, and have always wanted to catch up with her.  That saddens me deeply.

Got to make the most of this reunion and have quality time with those who are still with us.

Dear Sweet, Happy Robin--------------you always had that incredible smile on your face for everyone!!I   I never heard a negative remark from you------ever!!   --always focused in your studies---"-A "student--------forever the drill mistress of the Pep Club, AND  the real deal when  it came to friendship.  As you have transitioned from this mortal world, I know the new journey you are experiencing is one of deeper knowledge, more mobility, and guardianship of family and friends.       Love,   Barb Miller Schneider

Robyn wrote me during my mission and her letters were always welcomed and enjoyed.  They were bright, cheerful and interesting....just like Robyn.  My thoughts are with her family for a life well lived and enjoyed by many.

My dear friend Robyn,

There really isn't a week that goes bye that something doesn't remind be of you and the wonderful times we had in junior high and high school.  I loved you then and I do now because I know that if we had 5 minutes together to catch up that we would erase all of those years that we did not see each other.  You were so fun, accomplished, driven and perfect in every way.  How I miss and love you,  Always JoAnn
